Okay so my birthday was coming up and I decided that instead of organising an ever predictable piss up, which isn’t really my thing anyway, that I’d do something a bit different and go paintballing. So I went through all the motions of finding the best prices in the area and managed to get a pretty good deal. The next step was to see who was interested and everyone seemed pretty game. So then I had to get deposits off everyone and it got dragged out and dragged out until about the day before when I decided to cancel it.
Naturally I was kind of annoyed and upset that everyone had pretty much bailed on my birthday plans. So the night before me and my housemate Julie decided we were going to go to St.Kilda. Now I’d not been to St.Kilda yet and I’d heard it was nice, so I was looking forward to it.
So the next day (my birthday), we woke up and headed to St.Kilda. We had to change trams part of the way and I spotted an ‘Op Shop’. [For those who aren’t fluent in Australian, an Op Shop is a Charity Shop.] So I pointed it out to Ju and we headed in to have a browse. Nothing really caught my eye but Ju ended up buying a cute sun hat :)
So we proceeded on our journey and eventually made it to St.Kilda. It was a really sunny day, which made a change considering my birthday is in August!
We had a wander around the shops and I ended up spotting a bird cage. Now it probably sounds quite mad but for some reason, I fell in love with it. So, I decided, that would be by birthday present to myself! There was just something about it I really liked. It was also on sale, which is always a plus! Luckily the cashier was lovely and allowed me to leave it behind the counter until later, so I didn’t have to carry it around all day.
After we’d had enough of shopping, we started heading towards the beach. Then all of a sudden Ju sees some balloons on a sign outside a shop and says she wants one. So, like any good friend would, I broke one off for her. Then in true Ju fashion, she made me tie it to her wrist…..She kept it with her ALL day!
Ju had arranged to meet Marleen at the pier, so we had to walk to the opposite end of the beach. When we made it there, we met Marleen and then found a nice spot on the beach to sit down.
I managed to get Ju to dip her feet in the sea but that was about it. She was more interested in building an ice cream out of sand!
She was quite annoyed when I said the top looked like a pair of boobs but in the end we demolished everything around it so she could see for herself.
After hanging out on the beach for a while, we headed back into the town. We stopped in a nice little café and had some refreshments. When we were done there we headed into this amusement park nearby to have a look around. The rides ended up looking crappier than expected and being extremely overpriced. So we took some photos in the crazy mirrors and left.
I’d posted at the last minute on facebook that if people wanted to come over to our house that we could hang out and have a few drinks. So as it started to get dark, we thought we’d better head home to make sure we got there before people started arriving. On the way Ju got bored and decided to take photos of me on the tram.
I arrived home to a bottle of Bulmer’s Cider with a bow on it and a door decorated with birthday signs. I have very cute housemates.
Shortly after, some of the guys arrived, and being the complete sweethearts they are, they bought me a cake. We all went up to the games room, played some pool and beer pong and had a few drinks. Me and Ju ordered pizza and once we’d devoured that, we decided to cut the cake. It was really sickly but good.
