Melbourne Open House

Okay so randomly Melbourne decided to throw this 'open house' where a bunch of buildings; a lot of which you normally have to pay admission fees for, were open to the public for free for one weekend only. It was pretty cool, especially being an international student, and not only getting to see a lot of buildings in the city for free but also get tours and additional information on some of them too.

So here are a few of the places that we explored...

Graffiti Alley (not part of the open house)
St.Paul's Cathedral.
The door of St.Paul's Cathedral.
The inside of St.Paul's Cathedral.
The inside of St.Paul's Cathedral.
These are everywhere in the City.
Chinatown! :D
My ol'friend.
The Plaza Ballroom.
Supreme Court.
Me in the judges chair with Lisa.
Etihad Stadium.
Me and Lisa on the field at Etihad Stadium.

After we were done with the open house. Julie went to meet her friend Michele, and me and Lisa continued to wander around. I didn't take many pictures but heres a few of the ones i did take.

Bridge.
Ferris wheel....We were going to go up in it but it was extremely overpriced; even for Melbourne!
Statue by the river.
The City beyond the river.

Melbourne Sights/Becky goes to Melbourne Aquarium

So i decided that after long last i was going to go and explore the city of Melbourne. It was a really nice day, and whilst waiting for the tram, my friend Mike came wandering up. He was supposed to stay at our place after a party but he didn't end up coming back, so i had no idea what had happened to him. Turned out that he had passed out at Britainy's house and then everyone wrote all over him in permanent marker. He was COVERED from his neck to his back to his legs in random writing and penis'. It was pretty funny! Luckily for him, you couldn't see any of it with the outfit he was wearing. He was making his way back to Geelong but decided to hang out with me in the city for a while. We both had our cameras with us, so we went on a bit of a photography spree. It was a fun way to see the city and we both got some cool shots. Here are some of mine:

After exploring the city for quite a while, Mike decided that he was going to make the epic journey back to Geelong. So after i walked with him to the train station i decided i wasn't quite ready to stop exploring what Melbourne has to offer, so i thought i'd check out the aquarium. I was pleasantly surprised when i not only got student discount but also got discount for using a myki card. Kind of a weird system but i wasn't complaining! I was also happy when i realised that the majority of the aquarium is marine whereas at home aquariums tend to be almost completely freshwater. Here are some of the cool critters i saw...
Penguins.
Penguins underwater.
Angler Fish.

Cuttlefish.
Lion Fish.
Leafy Sea Dragon.
Baby snake neck? turtle.
Unknown fish in the reef exhibit.
Nautilus.
Shark.
Shark swimming over head.
FACE on a sting ray.
Purple Pufferfish....This guy was SO cute. He kept following me back and fourth along the tank.

Lisa Ish's 21st Birthday

Okay so we'd only been here a few weeks and my housemate Lisa had a birthday. Luckily for her, all of our house immediately hit it off and we'd made a lot of new friends on the Lorne Trip. So we organised for a bunch of our friends to come over to our place for pre-drinks, before we went out in Hawthorne. She seemed to have a good time, which is all that matters!
